This week’s Mid South East Netball Association action is shaping up to be a round of mismatched battles, with plenty of big scores anticipated.
The top three teams will meet sides closer to the bottom of the ladder in matches at Glencoe, Kalangadoo and Robe, while the closest contest may well take place between Hatherleigh and Port MacDonnell.
Robe v Kongorong
Robe will host Kongorong, with the Roosters coming off a solid 29 goal win over Nangwarry.
Meanwhile, last week saw Kongorong just going down in one of the round’s closer matches, where the Hawks went down to Mount Burr by seven.
The Roosters currently sit third on the ladder with a 4-2 record, with the Hawks occupying sevenths with 1-3.
Robe should have little problem accounting for Kongorong, especially at the seaside, in what will be a battle of the birds.
Glencoe v Nangwarry
It will be top versus bottom in the match between the Murphies and the Saints in round seven.
Both Glencoe and Nangwarry had solid wins last week, with Glencoe proving too strong for Tantanoola, winning by 22, while Robe ran over the top of Nangwarry, taking the match by 29 goals.
The Murphies are yet to lose a game this year, sitting one win clear atop the ladder.
While there is no doubt that the Saints have benefited from some quality recruiting, leading to a markedly improved performance this season, there is no doubt that Glencoe will register yet another win.
Kalangadoo v Tantanoola
The Pies will be flying high at home this week against the Tigers, who went down to ladder leaders Glencoe last round.
Kalangadoo had a thumping 54 goal win over Port MacDonnell in round six, while the Murphies showed their dominance to down Tant by 22.
The Magpies sit second on percentage, with Robe nipping at their heels, while Tant’s two wins and a draw has them in sixth.
Kalangadoo should have little trouble accounting for the visiting Tigers, however it is always a thrilling spectacle when the two sides meet.
Hatherleigh v Port MacDonnell
An undermanned Port MacDonnell is coming off a huge loss at the hands of reigning premiers Kalangadoo, who thumped the Demons 82-28.
Meanwhile, Hatherleigh should have fresh legs coming off the bye.
Port Mac has split its results thus far, with a 3-3 record to sit fifth on the ladder, while Hatherleigh is languishing in eighth with just the one win and draw registered.
Despite the fresh legs, the Eagles will have their work cut out for them as there’s no doubt the Demons will be determined to well and truly put last week’s result in the rear mirror. Mount Burr has the bye.
