The creative directors behind a plan to light up Mount Gambier for winter as part of a new and innovative event have undertaken a tour of the site.
The Blue Lake city will be included as part of the upcoming Illuminate Adelaide winter event – which will take over Adelaide’s city streets, laneways and buildings from July 16 to August 1.
The Mount Gambier installation will transform the Cave Gardens precinct and will precede the Adelaide event. Illuminate Adelaide is being billed as a celebration of innovation, music, art, light and technology.
Illuminate co-founders and creative directors Rachael Azzopardi and Lee Cumberlidge visited the Cave Gardens last week before the venue hosting the light installation later this year.
It is an entirely new event concept for South Australia and explores the union between future technology and creative industries and will completely reimagine the Adelaide CBD during the traditionally quieter winter months.
The duo is planning a series of light installations throughout the Mount Gambier gardens, as well as a projected display. The event was announced earlier this year by SA Tourism Commission chief executive Rodney Harrex during a visit to Mount Gambier.
