South Australians are being encouraged to put forward innovative projects and leaders in addressing climate change with nominations for the 2022 SA Climate Leaders Awards now open.

The awards showcase the important work happening across the state to build resilience and respond to a changing climate.

Nominations could include initiatives that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, build climate resilience and adaption, unlock economic opportunities, help better manage climate risk, or build knowledge and awareness of ways to increase sustainability.

Community, business and industry, educators and government are encouraged to nominate initiatives and a $10,000 prize will be awarded to the overall winner.

Previous winners include:

• Tom Linnell for his work as a climate and sustainability educator in Mount Gambier

• the City of Onkaparinga for its Greening Onkaparinga project

• AGIG for the development of Australia’s largest green hydrogen project, Hydrogen Park SA.

Entries close on 19 August 2022 and winners will be announced at an event later in 2022.

The awards are an initiative of the Premier’s Climate Change Council, the state government’s key advisory body on climate change.
