Business milestone celebrated

Since Mount Gambier Safety Supplies business owner Bob Sandow first opened the business, the store has worked hard to help keep workplace employees safe for over two decades.

When he was a manager in the timber industry, Mr Sandow realised there were too many workplace injuries involving incorrect training and equipment.

He left the timber industry with a Diploma in Safety Management and opened his own safety supplies business, one of the first businesses of its kind in Mount Gambier specialising in safety protection for employees.

Mr Sandow started the business with his wife Ruth, and he said they had worked hard to get the business to where it is today.

“Ruth has been a great support over the years. I couldn’t have done it without her.” he said.

The team has grown over the years and there are now several employees operating the business, including their daughter Kim.

Mr Sandow said his attitude towards other people, honesty and the support from the timber industry when he received his diploma had helped the business thrive for the past 25 years.

“It’s not about money, it’s about your reputation. Life isn’t about money; I enjoy what I do,” he said.

Mr and Mrs Sandow celebrated their significant achievement on Friday with a cake from their daughter and hosted a giveaway on Facebook.
