UNDER 12 – Millicent v Penola White
Penola emerged victorious after defeating Millicent on Friday night in the Mount Gambier and District Cricket Association under 12 grand final as the sides battled it out over two nights at Yahl Cricket Club.
The Black Hats began the match at the crease after winning the toss and started well with opener Jack Rowe making 16 while Raff Lawlor added eight.

After Rowe retired and Lawlor was dismissed, Millicent continued to add runs on the board as Pacey Duldig had a big night, smashing 30 off 30 while Frank Mules made 17 from 30.
Millicent struggled in the middle order as Theodore Wilson and Lauchlan Murphy both made three while Owen Lloyd contributed one.
The Black Hats got a bit of a boost late in the innings as Johnny Hamilton put some quick runs on the board with 11 off 20.
After 30 overs Millicent had 116 and was looking to close out the win with the ball on night two.
On Friday night Penola got straight to work at the crease with the bat in the hands of Charles Harris and Frank Kain.
Both had great innings with Harris making 29 while Kain scored 16.
Penola continued to put runs on the board to chase down Millicent’s total as James Manninen and Tait Kidman helped get their side over the line.
Manninen made 14 off 17 balls while Kidman had the top performance of the match as he made 38 off 19 while hitting four fours and three sixes.
In the second half of the innings Penola struggled to make up the last few runs as Millicent bowled well with lots of single run and maiden overs.
However Penola were able to push through and make up the runs in just under 25 overs.
Penola’s Tait Kidman was named player of the match.
UNDER 14 – South Gambier v Penola/Naracoorte
The combined side of Penola and Naracoorte were crowned premiers in a thrilling match against South Gambier in the Under 14 grand final at Frew Park.
The combined side kicked off the match at the crease and had a slow start as William Harris made five while Samuel Gericke scored two.
They finally got things going as Joshua Manninen got some runs on the board, facing 45 balls before retiring on 21 runs.
Henry Batt and James Manninen helped the side with the bat as they both added 18 runs to the total while Jack Lambert made eight.
In the back end of the innings the combined side got another few runs on the board as Anna Bald scored 11 off 35.
After 40 overs Penola/Naracoorte finished with a total of 119.
The next morning South looked to chase down the lead set on Saturday and they started strong as Patrick Sigley made 12 while Isaac Salmon spent the day at the crease, scoring 20 off 74 not out.
The runs continued for the Dees as Cooper Howard scored 19 with Titan Dumigan also contributing 19.

After the strong starts the runs began to dry up for South as they struggled in the back end of the innings.
South continued to grind away in the innings and get themselves in a position to take the win.
It came down to a nailbiter as the Dees were down to one wicket in the final over with two runs to chase and two balls left.
Penola/Naracoorte were able to seal the win after a great catch by William Harris on the second to last ball to claim the final wicket and secure the premiership.
Penola’s Josh Manninen was named player of the match.
UNDER 17 – Mil Lel v Millicent
Millicent came away with the win in the Under 17 grand final after playing great cricket for two nights against Mil Lel.
Millicent got away to a rough start after opener Cambell Hateley fell for a duck after three balls while Teej Lawlor made 10.
The Black Hats got into a groove as Ashton Lindner got the side going, making 35 off 38.
Millicent continued to build a solid lead as Charlie Bevan made 21 with Ryder Linder lodging 32 on the board and Isaac Chambers ending the night not out after putting together a 28 run innings.

In the back end of the innings Ari Robbins helped the side get a few more runs on the board with 11.
Millicent ended Thursday night with a total of 164.
On Friday night Mil Lel started well at the crease with Tayte Virtanen scoring 19.
Mil Lel had a couple of hiccups early on with Archer Virtanen falling for a duck while Kade Mulraney chipped in with nine.
They finally made some crucial runs in the middle order as Ryan Lucas scored 42 off 37 with Lachlan Cameron registering 32.
Mil Lel got a few more runs as Harry Hicks made 1, 7 however they struggled in the back end of the innings with three ducks which did not help in chasing down Millicent’s total.
Besides a seven from Noah Virtanen and Troy Horbury, Mil Lel could not make up the runs as Millicent had them all out for 139.
Millicent’s Ashton Lindner was named player of the match after a great performance with the bat and ball.
