Just pride left to play for in final round

There are unlikely to be any upsets in the final round of the Mid South East Netball Association to be played on Saturday.

The top four of Glencoe, Kalangadoo, Robe and Tantanoola looks locked in, while Mount Burr sits fifth, just one point behind Tantanoola.

If Mount Burr is to make the top four, it will not only need to beat ladder leaders Glencoe this week, but Hatherleigh will also need to down Tantanoola.

If the Magpies are to regain top spot, they will need to defeat Nangwarry, which is a given, however fifth placed Mount Burr will also need to defeat Glencoe, which will prove a tough ask given how well the Murphies are travelling.

Meanwhile, Port MacDonnell, Hatherleigh, Kongorong and Nangwarry will all play their final A Grade matches this weekend, with none able to climb into the top four.

Glencoe v Mount Burr

Ladder leaders Glencoe will take the court against fifth placed Mount Burr, with the Murphies set to defend the minor premiership.

The Murphies secured a 48-37 win last time these two met.

Glencoe is coming off a hard fought win against Port MacDonnell last week, while Mount Burr had a five goal victory against Tantanoola.

There is no doubt that Mount Burr will give the Murphies a run for their money, but given how well Glencoe has been playing it is unlikely they will be defeated.

Tantanoola v Hatherleigh

Fourth placed Tantanoola will host Hatherleigh who sit seventh, with Tantanoola needing to win to doubly secure their final spot on the ladder.

Last time these two sides met back in round 9 the Tigers had a seven point win, 40-47.

Both sides will be looking to return to the winners’ list, with Tantanoola coming off a tight match against Mount Burr last week, where they went down by five.

The Eagles also lost, going down by eight in a competitive clash with third placed Robe.

Kalangadoo v Nangwarry

The mismatch of the round will be the game between Kalangadoo and Nangwarry.

The Pies sit second on the ladder having only lost two matches, with Nangwarry yet to win a game this season.

These sides last met back in round nine, with the Maggies handing the Saints a 62 goal drubbing.

The Pies should have fresh legs this week coming off the bye, while Nangwarry went down to the Hawks last week.

Kongorong v Port MacDonnell

Kongorong will host near neighbour Port MacDonnell in both sides’ final match for the season.

The Demons have had a strong finish to the season, but narrowly missed out on the top four, despite giving the top sides a few scares to finish sixth.

Meanwhile, the Hawks sit eighth, having only recorded two wins for the season.

Kongorong went down by 31 goals last time these sides met, and it seems unlikely that margin will be reduced this week.

Third placed Robe has the bye.
