In a classic going down to the wire, Kalangadoo and Mil Lel kept spectators on the edge of their seats in the fight for the Cox Bros Shield.
After two hard fought days, it was not decided until the last ball of the day where Kalangadoo held on by three runs.
On the first day of play, Kalangadoo batted first in a slow going innings with Russell Keely and Kyle Giddings opening.
Both openers fell cheaply which brought in Sam Casey and he scored the runs freely placing the gaps around the field.
Despite Harry Evans offering some support, Casey was forced to carry the side through the entire innings as wickets tumbled at the other end.
The number three had survived 143 balls to make a gritty 68 before being the last batter out with the scoreboard reading 155.
Mil Lel’s bowing attack was led by Jordan Haggett (5/37) with the next best Bradley Hann (3/27).
It was Mil Lel’s turn to bat on Sunday and openers of Shane Grigg and Harry Smith faced up to the attack of Kalangadoo with Andrew Stone bowling great line and length.
But Smith lost his wicket with only one run on the board and it was hard work for the Mil Lel side until the ever-reliable Brett Lawson rescued the innings.
Lawson’s experience was valuable for the batting side, placing the ball around the ground in a man-of-the-match performance.
Losing wickets cheaply at the other did not help the run chase but it brought in the hard-hitting Jordan Haggett who compiled a handy 22 before losing his wicket with 14 runs still to chase.
Last wicket pair Lawson and Hann batted well and needed six runs off the last ball of the day but it was not to happen as Mil Lel fell three runs short.
For the victors Stone was the stand out with the ball taking 3/55 with Nick Herring also claiming multiple wickets.
Kalangadoo claimed back-to-back titles while Lawson was named man of the match for his fighting effort.
