Key forwards dominate final

Naracoorte was the location for the final chapter of the Kowree Naracoorte Junior Football League season on Saturday.

But despite fielding teams in both Division 1 deciders, the Demons’ party was spoiled by the visitors on the big stage.

A late charge ensured Bordertown claimed the Senior Colts premiership over Naracoorte in a Grand Final dominated by two key forwards.

Demon Sam Pridham and Rooster Dylan Carnermolla both kicked five majors for their respective sides, but the latter’s support from Bryson Hinge proved decisive.

Bordertown led by just five points after an entertaining opening quarter, but the side turned the game in the second term.

The Roosters kicked four majors to push their advantage to 21 points before the main break as Carnemolla, Hinge and Henry Dahlitz made their mark.

Naracoorte managed to slow down its opponent’s momentum in the premiership quarter to keep its hopes alive.

However, the Demons’ dreams of home glory were dashed as Bordertown cruised to a 28-point win.

Hinge was the victor’s leading player and kicked two goals, while Dahlitz and Mehdi Ghulami also performed.

Naracoorte’s top performers were Sam Thomson and Tommy Anderson.

Keith was hardly troubled on its way to the Senior Colts Division 2 title.

A dominant second half ensured the Crows flew to a 40-point victory after Joshua Altus and Samuel Gogel kicked seven goals between them.

Despite trailing by just 10 points at the main break and a strong performance by Angus Mckenzie, Kyby could only manage two straight kicks before the final siren.

The overall Junior Colts premiership went to Padthaway Lucindale after hard-fought win over the Demons.

Little separated the sides across the opening three quarters as they went goal for goal and a grandstand finish was in prospect.

But with a five-point advantage at the final break, Padthaway Lucindale stood tall when it mattered most, kicking two goals to one in the closing stages.

The strong finish ensured Padthaway Lucindale won by just two goals with Alex Pitt and Davey Gear the leading individuals, while Ethan Hocking kicked a pair of majors.

Naracoorte’s fighting effort was led by Matthew Maney, who kicked three goals.

Kybybolite cruised to victory in the Junior Colts Division 2 playoff with a 92-point win over Kingston.

Kyby set the tone with a seven-goal opening term, while Charlie Brodie was the chief destroyer with six goals and Remi Brown was best on ground.
