Ladder leader dishes-out thrashing

THE TWELFTH MAN

HDCA – D Grade

TAHARA has maintained its undefeated record in the Hamilton and District Cricket Association D Grade competition, with a 10-wicket thrashing of Pigeon Ponds at Johnny Mullagh Reserve on Saturday.

The local derby bever reached the heights expected as Pigeon Ponds failed to make an impression on the scoreboard after being sent into bat after losing the toss.

At the end of the 40 overs, the Pigeons were 9-97 with the only positive being the side batted out its allotted overs.

The home side started well (Alex Hodgson 29 and Josh Grant 27) and had 1-72 on the board when the batting collapse struck with the next eight wickets falling for only 25 runs (including 7-10 at one stage).

Tyler Gleeson (56-not-out) and William Templeton (26-not-out) knocked off the required runs in only 26.1 overs to end the game early.

Hammers hand it to Coleraine

UNFORTUNATELY for Hamilton North, the team top-scored for Coleraine with an astonishing 65 extras as the home side rattled up 8-285 at Turnbull St Oval.

The huge tally was even more bloated as the Hammers bowled an extra seven overs with the number of wides and no balls delivered handing Coleraine extra balls from which to score.

In reply, Hamilton North recovered from 8-70 to post a respectable 9-168 thanks to Sam Brody (55-not-out) and Molly Smith (11-not-out) adding 48 for the last wicket.

In other games …

HAMILTON skipper, Rory Steff scored his third successive century (110-retired-not-out from only 79 balls) as the home side posted 6-247 and then dismissed Tarrington for only 95.

St Andrews forfeited to Grampians for the second time this summer.
