Ladies contest quarter finals

The A and B Grade Club Championship quarter finals were conducted at the Mount Gambier Golf Club last Wednesday in good conditions.

In the finals four matches were contested with Kerry Pedlar winning against Denise Harvey 3/2, Jennifer Van Ritjhoven defeating Jan Shanahan 7/6, Bernie Jennings beating Carol Davis 4/2 while Faye Mainwaring was the victor against her sister, Helen Gregory 3/1.

In the B Grade quarter final, Rab Headlam defeated Janina Morrison 2/1.

Jeannette Braun won 5/3 over Chris Galpin, Di O’Donnell prevailed in a tight tussle with Heather Teakle 2up and Helen McIntyre registered a win over Kathy Ewer 5/4.

Pedlar and Van Ritjhoven will face off in the A Grade semi-final, while Mainwaring meets Jennings in the other contest.

The B Grade draw is Headlam v Braun and O’Donnell v McIntyre.

Played in conjunction with the quarter finals 27 Ladies competed in a Stableford Event.

In Division 1 Kate McCormick (23) carded 32 points to take home the honours and finished the round in style with a Birdie on the 18th hole.

Second placing went to Vicki Clark (26) on a count-back from McCormick also with 32 points.

Clark picked up four points on the first hole with a Birdie, plus three Pars and five wipe-outs.

In spite the long course lay-out newcomer Linda Boylan (45) played to her handicap and took out the honours for Division 2 with the best score of the day – 36 points.

Boylan had a great 21 points on the front nine, including four three pointers.

Another relatively new face to the club Jess Parsons (29) came in second place with 33 points with five three pointers on her card.

Next week the grand finals will be played with the A and B Grades conducing a 36-hole Match play event.

C Grade is also Match Play over 18 holes with D Grade fighting for the Hopper Gabriel Cup which is a Stableford event.

Heavy, windy conditions met the 20 lady golfers at the Mount Gambier Golf Course last Saturday.

A two-person Aggregate Stableford was the event of the day and scoring was made difficult with a hard course set-up and windy conditions affecting players putting.

The combination pairing of Kerry Pedlar and Helen Gregory won the day with a combined score of 63 points.

Second place went to the pair of Denise Harvey and Karen Forster on 59 points and Marie Douglas and Di O’Donnell took out third place with 58 points.
