Ladies contest stroke round

Last Wednesday the third round of the Summer Salver stroke round competition was contested by a field of 39 lady golfers.

Perfect golfing weather, with a few tricky pin placements, but a lot of run on the course, saw 14 Ladies play to their Handicap or better.

Winning Division 1 (0-24) was long time member Di Norman with a great score of 87-20-67, six shots under her handicap and her best score ever recorded.

Norman had 46 on the front nine and 41 on the more difficult and longer back nine.

Carding pars on the hardest holes 13 and 14 facilitated her successful scorecard. The handicapper will catch up with Di next week.

Jennifer Van Rijthoven played consistently to secure second place, registering 40/40 split. Her card showed 80-12-68 with a birdie on the third hole and also included eight pars.

Division 2 (25-45) saw two visitors to the club claim first and second positions. Rosalie Hunt from the Millicent Golf Club playing for the first time in the Wednesday competitions recorded 100-30-70 and her split for the nines was a consistent 50/50.

Second placing in Division 2 losing on a count-back was Dartmoor’s Member Mardi Bawden who carded 108-38-70, three under her handicap and scoring pars on the sixth and 18th holes.

Nine balls were given out in the ball rundown to Di O’Donnell, Jill Johnson, Susan Downes, Chris Galpin, Faye Mainwaring, Jane Lamont, Kerry Pedlar, Lorraine Stratford and Carol Davis.

Pro-shot winner earning herself three balls was Jennifer Van Rijthoven, while special prizes on the day for the best second shot to the pin on the difficult 10th hole and were won by Kerry Pedlar in A Grade, Chris Galpin in B Grade and Jane Lamont for C Grade.

Next week’s competition will be a stableford round and best wishes go to all the golfing ladies participating in the Southern Ports competition.

SATURDAY LADIES RESULTS
