League turns purple for epilepsy

In round 13 of the Mount Gambier Netball Association (MGNA) season, the league turns purple to raise awareness of epilepsy and funds for the Epilepsy Centre SA.

Zodiacs and Hobitz netball clubs in conjunction with the MGNA will host a Purple Day for Ella’s Purple Promise, a local fundraising initiative.

Ella’s Purple Promise was estab- lished in 2015 by Katherine Height to  raise awareness of epilepsy.

Ms Height’s daughter Ella Gray was diagnosed with a rare and incurable form of epilepsy the same year.

Since its inception, the Ella’s Purple Promise initiative has raised more than $10,000 with all funds generated back into  the Limestone Coast community to help local families living with epilepsy.

The initiative is calling on anyone who attends round 13 of the MGNA to show their support by wearing purple.

A sausage sizzle and purple doughnuts will be available for purchase alongside purple epilepsy merchandise and a raffle, with prizes donated by local businesses.
