Lee for the win

A STRONG field of 17 players turned-out on Wednesday for the Stableford round.

Winner on the day was Neville Lee (25) on 41 points from Gene Thompson (8) on 39 points.

There were only five players who failed to make more than 30 points.

NTPs were Tyler Vise on the 2nd and 13th, Gene Thompson 13th, A Skinner on the 17th and Adam Waters took 2nd shot on the 9th.

Who was the player who managed to hit his tee shot on the 10th 30 metres; seems his drive hit the ladies distance marker and rebounded to the clubhouse.

Good example of how to change a par 4 into a par 5 and no boys, it was not him.

Who was the player who we believe left his putter at the clubhouse on the way round, or was he just going back to get some beers?

Women’s results

THE 11-hole winner was Yvonne Rees from Heather Gill.

Results were reversed on the 18-hole with Heather (20) nett 69, winning from Yvonne Rees (34) nett 72.

Nearest the pins went to Denise Gill on the 8th and 13th, Marg Ferguson on the 17th; putting comp, Heather Gill.

Saturday results

SATURDAY was an early start due to the weather and an excellent field of 30 player attended to play the monthly medal, sponsored by Warren Southern’s Tyrepower.

Winner of the day was the old stager, Ian Thompson (13), with a 70 from Noel Fitzgerald (8) 72.

Nearest the pins went to Ian Thompson on the 2nd, Neville Wombwell on the 8th, Murray Frost on the 13th and Richard Layley on the 17th, with Troy O’Connell taking second shot on the 9th.

You know you are having a bad round when one of your playing partners tells you, as you are preparing to play your next shot, the drain is 33 metres away and you need to hit the ball 39 metres to get over it.

Next week left handers are playing right handers, I think.

The Glenelg Vet’s are playing on Monday, 10 February for the Merv Williams Trophy sponsored by Mark Davis of Davis Blinds.

Our AGM is on Tuesday, 11 February, followed by the Hospital Day on 16 February, subject to confirmation.

Many thanks to Ian Thompson who has stepped up to cut the greens prior to our competitions and what a good job he is doing.
