The steep inclines of Mount Gambier’s Valley Lakes precinct have again been conquered with the weekend’s staging of the Trident Tyre Centre Legend of the Lakes Hill Climb.

Long time Lakes Legend Dan Day claimed the honours again, winning his ninth hill climb in a row.

Day set a new record three times over on the weekend, recording 48.05 seconds from bottom to top, breaking the previous record in the low 49 seconds set in 2022.

Adelaide’s Douglas Johnson claimed second place, while Kevin Mackrell was relegated to third.
