Liberal leader puts regions at top of agenda

New State Liberal leader David Speirs took time to catch up with locals during a recent visit to the South East.

Mr Speirs travelled to Keith, where he attended the local MacKillop branch annual general meeting.

“Since becoming leader of the South Australian Liberal Party, I have made it my mission to get out and visit regional communities to listen to their local concerns and respond to their ever-changing needs,” he said.

“There’s no doubt this is an electorate that is an economic powerhouse with strong and diverse industries including agriculture, forestry, fishing and wine.

“But this does not mean there are not challenges, with concerns around cost-of-living, housing, health and aging road infrastructure front of mind for many in this region.

“I firmly believe that no South Australian should be put at a disadvantage due to where they live, and our regions are a brilliant place to work, raise a family and start a business.

“Regional engagement and policy development to support and deliver for regional communities is a key focus for myself and the Liberal Party.”
