The Liberal Party’s Barker Electoral College will be held at the Murray Bridge racecourse at 12.30pm on May 13 and will be chaired by State president Rowan Mumford.
Local Liberal Party members and a State Executive contingent will choose between sitting MP Tony Pasin and challenger Katherine McBride to represent the party at the next poll due in 2025.
In a communique to Liberal Party members, state director Alex May said each candidate would be invited to address the college and a ballot would follow.
The communique included brief biographical details supplied by each candidate.
As a coincidence, both candidates attended a private school for their secondary education and hold degrees from Flinders University in Adelaide.
Ms McBride is a graduate in nursing practice while Mr Pasin studied economics and law.
The previous four members for Barker have all been university graduates: Patrick Secker (Flinders), Ian McLachlan (Cambridge), James Porter (Adelaide) and the late Dr Jim Forbes (Oxford).
According to her CV, Ms McBride is president of the Kingston Liberal Party branch and secretary of the MacKillop State Electoral College.
Her hobbies and interests are listed as gardening, politics, cooking, pilates and agriculture.
In the case of Mr Pasin, he devotes his time to his family, politics and cricket.
His Liberal Party activities include Mount Gambier branch president, state vice president and chair of the rural and regional council.
