An unofficial post-mortem on the Federal election by local Liberals is expected at a closed meeting at Bordertown on June 22.
The Liberal Party MacKillop State Electorate Committee is holding its annual general meeting with the party’s poor showing in last month’s poll certain to be discussed.
The guest speaker will be Senator Andrew McLachlan who was not up for election last month.
Incumbent Liberal Tony Pasin polled well in the local Federal seat of Barker but his majority was trimmed due chiefly to the presence of other conservatives on the ballot paper.
One of the key items of business is the election of five local delegates to State Council.
The meeting will be chaired by committee president Matthew Neumann who has held the role since 2023.
His name has regularly been mentioned as a possible Liberal Party candidate for the state seat of MacKillop at the next election due in just over nine months.
Mr Neumann has regularly declined to comment on the speculation.
Party insiders expect the pre-selection process to choose a candidate in MacKillop will get under way in the near future.
