Lifeguard makes splash

The Wulanda Recreation and Convention Centre is celebrating a major achievement, with their much-loved lifeguard Archie Muller named Pool Lifeguard of the Year at the prestigious 2024 Aquatic Industry Awards for Excellence hosted annually by Surf Life Saving SA.

Earlier this year, Archie demonstrated remarkable situational awareness and quick action when a patron suffered a heart attack in the 25m pool.

Recognising the unusual behaviour, Archie immediately initiated CPR and performed resuscitation, coordinating with his aquatics team to keep the patron stable until emergency services arrived.

There were special congratulations as well to Wulanda lifeguard Aleisha Pearson, who was a finalist for Pool Lifeguard of the Year, well deserved acknowledgement for her dedication to water safety.

A Wulanda and Recreation Convention Centre spokesperson said they were very proud of the facility’s aquatics team its ongoing commitment to the safety of patrons.
