Limestone Coast Weekend Traffic wrap up

Four drivers have been charged with traffic offences over the weekend in the Limestone Coast.

About 5.35pm on Friday, December 20 police were conducting speed detection duties on the Dukes Highway at Keith when a grey Toyota sedan was detected travelling 72kmh in a 60kmh zone.

The 44-year-old man from Parafield Gardens was stopped and submitted to a breath test which returned a positive result of 0.107. He was reported for drink driving, expiated for exceeding the speed limit. His vehicle was impounded and lost his licence for six months. He will be summonsed to appear in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court at a later date.

About 11.30pm the same day police stopped a red Holden sedan on Smith Street at Naracoorte after the driver failed to stop at a stop sign.

The 36-year-old driver was stopped and submitted to a breath test which returned a positive result of 0.109. He was reported for drink driving and issued a six month loss of licence. He will be summonsed to appear in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court at a later date.

Just before 5.55pm on Saturday, December 21 police were conducting speed detection duties on Mount McIntyre Road at Kalangadoo when a white Isuzu was detected travelling 146kmh in a 100kmh zone. The 26-year-old driver was stopped and issued an expiation notice for driving at an excessive speed and issued a six month loss of licence.

About 1pm on Sunday, December 22 police were called to Carba Road at Caroline after reports a vehicle had left the road after doing a burnout.

Following investigations police located the 17-year-old driver and checks revealed he was disqualified from holding a licence and incorrectly displaying registration plates to the vehicle. He was reported for driving disqualified, misuse motor vehicle, driving unregistered and driving with unassigned plates. He will be summonsed to appear in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court at a later date.
