Millicent United v Gambier Centrals
Gambier Centrals came away with the three points on Sunday with a massive win over Millicent United in Millicent for round 2 of the Limestone Coast Football Association’s Barry Maney Premier League.
Centrals started strong early on as they wasted no time in taking the lead as Sam Shoemark scored the opening goal from a penalty in the first two minutes.
Shoemark followed up with another goal shortly after to give his side a two nil lead.
Millicent had a short patch where they slowed down Centrals however it did not last long as Shoemark found the back of the net twice while Cameron Saint got his name on the scorer’s list.
Centrals finished the half strong as Shoemark scored a quick three goals in the final few minutes of the half.
After a massive first half Centrals held an eight goal lead.
Millicent came out strong in the second half as they scored the opening goal only two minutes in as Cooper Widdison found the back of the net.
It did not take long for Centrals to respond as Daniel Crossing scored his first A Grade goal of the season.
Centrals continued to put goals on the board as Lewis March, Saint and Shoemark scored four quick goals to take their lead to 12.
At the back end of the half Shoemark had another quick goal scoring spell as he got another three goals.
Centrals closed out the match with another goal from Crossing and Shoemark, making it 18 for the match.
Gambier Centrals defeated Millicent United 18-1.
International v Apollo
Inter were back to their winning ways with a big win over Apollo on Sunday at Casadio Park.
It did not take long for Inter to take the lead with Matt Bueti returning to the side and scoring the opening goal in the first four minutes.
Inter’s lead grew shortly after Bueti’s goal as Sar Hay Moo found the back of the net only two minutes later.
The fast start continued for Inter as Sam Bueti scored at the 10 minute mark to give a three goal lead.
After Inter’s hot start Apollo were able to stop the bleeding for the rest of the half as they kept the margin at three goals going into halftime.
In the second half Inter continued to apply pressure on Apollo as Matt Bueti scored back to back goals in two minutes to take the lead to five goals early on in the second half.
Throughout the half Apollo continued to struggle as they could not get anything going.
Inter continued to create chances in the second half with many of them paying off as both Bueti’s scored midway through the half.
Inter finished strong late in the half as Matt Bueti scored another to seal the victory.
Matt Bueti had a great return game, scoring five goals.
Inter defeated Apollo 8-0.

Blue Lake v Portland Panthers
Blue Lake picked up their second win of the season on Sunday as they hosted Portland in their home opener.
It was a fairly even contest in the first half as both sides created chances but struggled to put any scoreboard pressure on one another.
As it looked like both sides were going to go into the half tied zero all that changed in an instant when Blue Lake were awarded a penalty at the 43rd minute mark.
Blue Lakes Shar Nay Than stepped up and slotted it to give his side a one goal lead going into the halftime break.
After a competitive first half Blue Lake wasted no time in building onto their lead as they found the back of the net early on off a great goal from Gay Nay Say Ler.
The Panthers continued to battle hard and create chances for themselves but were ultimately stopped by the great play of Blue Lake keeper Eh Mwee Htoo.
Blue Lake continued to put pressure on the Panthers and it soon paid off again as Than found the back of the net again to give his side a three goal lead.
Despite the three nil deficit, Portland continued to battle and responded shortly after with a goal of their own as Nathan Adams was able to score the side’s lone goal for the day.
Blue Lake defeated Portland 3-1.
Womens
Millicent United v Gambier Centrals
It was a great day for Gambier Centrals as they came away with a great victory over Millicent United on Sunday.
Centrals started well in the first half as they looked to take an early lead several times.
Millicent’s defence finally cracked halfway through the half when Andi Corfield found the back of the net to give her side a one goal lead.
Centrals did well to hold that lead as they did not let Millicent get into the game as they headed into the halftime break with that one goal lead.
In the second half Centrals looked to build on their lead as they continued to dominate the play.
Centrals broke through and scored another in the 63rd minute as Jasmine Siemon found the back of the net.
Central’s attack continued as Millicent were left disadvantaged after their keeper Dianne Wilson was subbed off due to injury.
Centrals took advantage of this as Rachel Muzaliwa scored the third goal of the day which helped seal the victory and make it win number two for Centrals this season.
Centrals Coach Wanita Robinson was happy with the 3-0 win on Sunday
Robinson was delighted that her side had scored its second win this season and was impressed with how her side performed overall.
“They played really, really well,” she said.
“They had good ball control and great passing which is something that we have been working on at training. “They just did overall really good.”
Robinson thought Jasmine Siemon, who scored for the Lions, and Kiah Connolly stood out well in the match, battling it out in the midfield.
When it came to her defensive players, Robinson had high praise for youngster Charlie Moors who she believed held her own down back.
“I’d definitely say Jasmine Siemon and Kiah Connolly our captain, they both stood out really well and held the team really strong,” she said.
“And so did Charlie Moors our under 16 who is in the back line which she held that nice and strong as well.”

Blue Lake v Portland Panthers
Blue Lake and Portland Panthers faced off on Saturday at Malseed Park with the two sides sharing the points again for a second time this season.
After a high scoring match last week Portland were looking for their first win as they travelled across the border for the first time this season.
Blue Lake on the other hand were looking to get things going after sharing points with Apollo last week despite not scoring a goal.
The Panthers came out hot and wasted no time at taking the lead as Imogen Pratt found the back of the net 11 minutes in.

After the early goal neither side could change the score board as the Panthers went into halftime with a one goal lead.
Blue Lake battled hard in the second half as they looked to get back into the game.
The Rangers were able to put the Panthers on the defensive as Lily Kradolfer found the back of the net to tie the game up at the 51st minute mark.
After the equaliser both looked to score another and come away with the full points.
However both sides just could not be broken as the lead taking goal could not be found by either side as the match ended in a draw.
Blue Lake drew with Portland 1-1.
International v Apollo
Apollo came away with the three points on Sunday as they headed to Casadio Park to take on Inter.
After sharing the points last week, the reigning premiers Apollo were out for their first win of 2025.
It did not take long for Apollo to take the lead as Daylia Daylia scored the first of the match to give her side the lead.
After conceding the early goal, Inter battled well for the rest of the half despite not finding the back of the net as they went into the halftime break down by one.
In the second half Inter continued to compete well with Apollo as they did not let them add to their lead for most of the half.
Apollo were able to break through again and add to their lead late in the half as Zoe Brooksby found the back of the net.
After Brooksby’s goal Apollo rode that momentum as they scored another shortly after with Rebekah Lamb getting her name on the scorers list.
The three goals were enough to seal the victory for Apollo.
Apollo defeated Inter 3-0.
