A Millicent lobby group has been praised by a visiting politician.
Shadow Regional Health Services Minister Penny Pratt visited Millicent last week and said the town had established an important independent voice on regional health matters.
“Member for MacKillop Nick McBride and the Millicent and Surrounds Health Support Group are across issues like rural GP workforce shortage, doctor fatigue, bulk billing and retention,” she said.
“We can all work towards solutions that support our hard-working local country GPs while ensuring high quality health services closer to home.”
Ms Pratt and Mr McBride met the MASH Group in Millicent for 90 minutes last week.
The Shadow Minister also visited a Glencoe dairy and attended a public forum in Mount Gambier as part of a regional tour with Opposition Leader David Speirs.
Meanwhile, the MASH Group is planning two community events in Millicent before the end of the year.
It is also staging an information stall at the Millicent Show on November 4 and 5.
MASH Group representatives will be joined in manning the stall by members of the Millicent Health Advisory Council, Wattle Range Suicide Prevention Network and the Wattle Range Hospital Auxiliary.
