Lobster prices sink again

Lobster prices sink again

The wheel of fortune has turned for professional lobster fishers along the South East coast as the beach (wholesale) price has dropped sharply in the space of a week from $87 to $65 per kilogram.

Furthermore, the rough weather in the past week has caused many boats to stay in port.

The 2021/22 season opened almost three weeks ago with the initial return to the 160 boats being $70.

The domestic market in Adelaide is currently charging retail customers $90 per kilogram.

Meanwhile, the anticipated surge in recreational lobster fishing along the SE coast over the long weekend was impacted by the poor weather.
