Mount Gambier’s Lucy Lines of Two Lines Fertility will fly to Copenhagen tomorrow to attend the European Fertility Society award ceremony.
Ms Lines has been short-listed for the best fertility service at the European Fertility Society Fertility Care Awards for her IVF WTF program, which won the international award last year.
“I am feeling very, very excited, incredibly grateful for my beautiful online community who have made it possible and really nervous about leaving my kids, so very mixed feelings,” Ms Lines said.
“There was no way I was going to be able to afford to go on my own, so I put it out to my community on Friday and said I really want to do this, how can I help you to help me?
“My community came back and said, ‘bundle some things together and we will buy them,’ so I bundled a few things together over the weekend and added in a few bonuses and extras and people have purchased those.
“I have had a lot of lovely ex-clients contact me as well and say, ‘I do not need to buy anything because I have a baby or I’m pregnant, but I really, really want you to go to do this so how can I donate some money?’
“It has been so touching and very emotional, but thanks to all of them I have gathered enough money together to be able to do it.”
Ms Lines will also attend the three-day European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) conference, where between 10,000 and 20,000 delegates will share information and research regarding reproduction.
The IVF WTF program empowers IVF patients with information regarding what will happen during their IVF cycle, behind-the-scenes information, and support through their treatment.
Ms Lines believed she was shortlisted for the award because IVF WTF is the only program of its kind in the world.
“It is a unique offering in that it is developed by a clinical embryologist, me, delivered in a way that reduces the barriers to this kind of information,” she said.
“This is independent information that is trustworthy, that contains everything you need and a whole lot of things that you did not even know you needed.”
