The local MacKillop electorate branch of the Liberal Party will soon hold its annual general meeting but without a sitting MP for the first time since 1998.
Independent MP Mitch Williams rejoined the party the following year and he was succeeded in 2018 by then Liberal Nick McBride.
He was re-elected in 2022 but became an Independent around this time last year in the wake of sensational happenings in the annual general meeting of the Liberal Party’s MacKillop State Electorate Committee at the Hatherleigh Football Club.
Most key officeholders sought re-election but were defeated in the secret ballots.
The 2024 annual general meeting of the Liberal Party’s MacKillop State Electorate Committee will be held at the Keith Golf Club on May 26.
The guest speaker will be Opposition Leader David Spiers.
The Liberal Party has around 500 paid-up members in the MacKillop electorate and all are eligible to attend.
