Man arrested over Millicent stabbing

Alocal man was taken into police custody after an alleged stabbing at Millicent on Saturday morning.

Emergency services were called to a business premises in George Street at about 8.30am following reports a man had been stabbed.

Police located the alleged victim, a 24-year-old man, with a stab wound to the abdomen. He was taken by SA Ambulance Service to the Mount Gambier Hospital and his injury is not believed to be life-threatening.

Police searched the area for the known suspect, who was located about 9.45am and taken into police custody.

The 28-year-old Millicent man was taken to the Millicent Hospital for a mental health assessment.

Investigations are continuing and anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has phone or dashcam footage is asked to provide details via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
