Manufacturer rolls up sleeves to boost vaccinations

Free COVID vaccinations are being offered to employees, contractors and the general public at the Kimberly-Clark Australia Millicent Mill.

Mill manager Adam Carpenter said the daily pop-up clinic began on Thursday and was an important part of South Australia’s vaccine rollout.

“Kimberly-Clark is honoured to help provide the opportunity for more of our people, their families and the local community to access the COVID-19 vaccine,” Mr Carpenter said.

“The South Australian Government and our Local Health Network have done a tremendous job in boosting the vaccine rates within our regional communities and we are proud to play our part in Australia’s road to recovery.”

The pop-up clinic runs from 7.30am – 4.30pm each Thursday to the end of November and will offer Pfizer.

Bookings are essential and can be made by calling the Millicent Mill on 8721 4200.

Minister for Health and Wellbeing Stephen Wade said the pop-up clinic will provide up to 100 appointments per day.

“Giving all South Australians access to the COVID-19 vaccination is a vital part of keeping South Australia safe and protected against the deadly virus,” Mr Wade said.

“As we prepare to relax our borders and ease restrictions in South Australia, there has never been a more important time for people to roll up their sleeves and get vaccinated to protect themselves, their friends and family, and the community.

“More than 2700 vaccinations have been delivered in Millicent through the Limestone Coast Local Health Network, and this new pop-up vaccination clinic will help get the vaccine into more arms of South Australians so we can further boost our vaccination rate.

“We have seen how quickly the COVID-19 situation can change, which is why it is important we continue to adapt and collaborate to ensure South Australians can access the vaccine close to home.”

Limestone Coast Local Health Network chief executive Ngaire Buchanan said the pop-up clinic was a great opportunity for employees to roll up their sleeves and get vaccinated in the workplace.

“Establishing a pop-up clinic at the Kimberly-Clark facility in Millicent means employees can have easier access to this vital vaccine so they can protect themselves and their loved ones,” Ms Buchanan said.

“Bookings are essential, and vaccinations will be provided onsite in a designated area by a team of nursing staff from LCLHN, who will provide first and second doses to employees, their families and members of the community.

“We are pleased to work together with Kimberly-Clark Australia in delivering this important vaccine to employees and the Millicent community through this pop-up clinic which will help to further boost our vaccination rate.”
