Many hands make light work of site upgrade

Foodbank SA Limestone Coast recently had screening added to the chain-link fence at their site, thanks to the generosity of Bunnings Warehouse Mount Gambier and Gambier City Lions Club.

Foodbank Limestone Coast Branch manager Lynne Neshoda said the screening was added due to their location in an industrial area, for privacy and as a wind break.

Ms Neshoda said she approached Bunnings Warehouse for a donation of materials and they were lucky enough to be accepted.

“The whole process from Bunnings was prompt and efficient from start to finish and the customer service and support to our organisation was second to none,” Ms Neshoda said.

Gambier City Lions Club members offered to erect the screening.

“Thank you to Mike Tuohy who was instrumental in getting this happening and to his helpers Ray Doody, Max Hellyer and Darrell Brook, they were amazing,” Ms Neshoda said.

It has been 12 months since the acquisition of the Mount Gambier Foodbank site and the completion of the cool room and freezer developments.

Ms Neshoda said Foodbank was now a fabulous space to work in.

“We are continuing to improve the site, one small project at a time,” she said.

Foodbank is the largest food relief organisation on the Limestone Coast, delivering over 400,000 meals each year to Limestone Coast people in need.

They work with local charities, agencies and schools, supplying 24 schools with food for their School Breakfast Program and providing BHP hamper packs for children at 15 of these schools who do not have regular access to food.

“We are very lucky to have such a supportive community to help us achieve this,” Ms Neshoda said.
