Mass celebration to start year

The Tenison Woods College community recently came together to mark the start of the school year. Students and school staff gathered at Marist Park for the “Beginning of Year Mass”.

The college’s Religious Education Coordinator Chloe Shanahan said it was a significant event for the college as it was the first time in a year they had been able to gather as a whole school community to celebrate the Eucharist.

“Continuing a cherished tradition, the Reception students were escorted into their very first mass at the college by their Year 12 buddies,” she said. “Symbolising the beginning and the end of the students’ educational journeys, each of them special and significant in their own individual way.

“Father Dean challenged all members of the mass to make the ordinary moments extraordinary, aligning with the college’s call to action this year. “The newly elected Year 6, Year 9 and Year 12 leaders were also blessed and commissioned as they begin their leadership roles in the school community.”
