Nominations for Robe Mayor vacancy opened on Friday with any candidates having a fortnight to complete the nomination process.
The Robe District Council last night staged a mayoral candidates information forum.
Voting packs will be mailed out next month and the postal poll will close on March 14.
In the meantime, Deputy Mayor Lisa Ruffell will continue to have oversight of the Robe Council.
“l would like to personally thank you all for the confidence in the councillors to work together for Robe District Council,” Deputy Mayor Ruffell said.
“We have had the first two public meetings and started the process of listening to the community groups that wanted to be heard.
“The council is here to represent you and l would like to think my door is always open to listen to all your ideas and concerns.”
Limestone Coast Health Trust owner Dr David Senior accepted the invitation to address the council last month along with the Robe Professional Fishermen’s Association and the Robe aero, bowling and golf clubs.
“It was great to hear each group discuss their issues, opportunities and challenges,” council chief executive James Holyman said.
“They provided an opportunity to understand firsthand the diverse views and expectations of the groups.
“There were proactive suggestions on how the groups and council can work more closely together to build a stronger and more cohesive community.
“These sessions are vital because as a small council, we need to work together to provide a quality lifestyle and leisure activities for members of the community and for visitors to our district.”
