Mayura Station at Millicent has been named Grand Champion Wagyu brand at the 2024 Australian Wagyu Associations Branded Beef Awards held at Cairns, Queensland.
This is a historic win for Mayura Station as it became the first brand to be named Grand Champion brand an unprecedented three-times.
Previous wins had come in 2019 and 2022.
The winning entry in 2022 had the largest Rib Eye of all the entries and had the highest percentage of unsaturated fat at 62%.
Judges commented on the exceptional melt in your mouth juiciness, with lasting umami flavors and a satisfying silky mouth feel.
Mayura Station manager Scott de Bruin said he was proud of the historic win.
“One thing that excites me is our ability to have been able to stay consistent over the years of the competition,” he said.
“I am very proud of the entire team at Mayura Station, for their shared passion to produce the highest quality wagyu beef in the country.”
