McFadden dominates sprintcar super series

James McFadden’s crushing 2021 Speedway Australia Super Series campaign finished in fittingly on Saturday night when he was the man to beat once again at Whyalla.

The season finale also doubled as the South Australian Sprintcar Title with McFadden adding that crown to his long list of achievements after he led home Matt Egel and Daniel Pestka.

The South Australia and Victorian Super Series proved fruitful for multi-time World Series Sprintcars Champion McFadden, who won four of the six feature races in his yellow Monte Motorsports Team machine.

Avalon Raceway in Round 1 set the scene for McFadden as he claimed the President’s Cup before he had to settle for a 12th at Borderline Speedway. But the W17 driver returned to victory lane on the second night of Premier Speedway’s Fifty for 50, one year after claiming his most recent Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic win.

Unfortunately, Mother Nature did not want to play at Bordertown’s Tolmer Speedway on Monday, January 25 and the race was cancelled.

With two rounds to run, McFadden led the points battle from Pestka and Egel, while Marcus Dumesny and Jessie Attard also remained in the chase. At Murray Bridge McFadden edged out Pestka and Egel in the Australia Day Stampede before sealing the $10,000 championship with another win at Whyalla.

McFadden finished with a total of 900 points, 72 clear of runner-up of Pestka. Dumesny just overcame Egel by two points to secure third place, while Jessie Attard rounded out the top five.
