Two Limestone Coast men have been charged with child sex offences following investigations in the region last week.
Between Monday, November 25 and Tuesday, November 26, South Australian Police and Australian Federal Police Detectives from the Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (JACET), conducted a series of unrelated investigations in the Limestone Coast region.
Following the investigations, two men were charged for child sex offences.
A 53-year-old-man from the Limestone Coast was arrested for possessing and disseminating child exploitation material and bailed to appear in the Millicent Magistrate Court on January 22.
A 30-year-old-man from the Limestone Coast was arrested for possessing child abuse material, obtaining or accessing a carriage service and using a carriage service to access child abuse material. He was bailed to appear in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court on 28 January 28.
Detective Sergeant Joe Barry from the Australian Federal Police expressed concern about the incidents.
“These are not just images on a screen, every image and every second of a video has a real child being abused and being subjected to a situation that no child should ever experience,” he said.
SAPOL’S Detective Chief Inspector Matthew Lyons warned that officers would continue to target offenders.
“The South Australia Police and our partner agencies are highly trained to detect and apprehend predators who target our vulnerable,” he said.
“I am extremely proud of the tireless work our officers continue to do and the outcomes they achieve. Our community is safer as a result of these arrests.”
