South Australian wine industry legend Andrew Hardy has been announced as a panellist for an upcoming Coonawarra wine masterclass in Adelaide later this month.

Mr Hardy will join the event’s recently revealed host, wine critic and wine writer Nick Stock, at Australia’s National Wine Centre from 9.30am to 11.20am on August 29.

The ‘Vintage of the Century’ Masterclass, presented by Coonawarra Vignerons, will feature 10 exceptional 2010 vintage wines from world-famous Cabernet producing wine regions, including Coonawarra, Margaret River, Yarra Valley and Bordeaux.

But alongside the opportunity to sample some of our region and the rest of the world’s best drops is a chance to hear from wine industry figures like Mr Hardy.

“Andrew Hardy is a legend of the South Australian wine industry, let alone the Australian wine industry … we’re pretty stoked that he is now part of the showcase,” Coonawarra Vignerons events and marketing officer Heidi Eldridge told The SE Voice.

Ms Eldridge expects the event to attract wine enthusiasts and professionals from South Australia’s wine industry, giving South Australians the chance to interact with winemakers firsthand.

“Coonawarra coming to Adelaide is a bit of a big deal,” she said.

Guests of the Vintage of the Century Masterclass will taste wines with a price tag of over $300, including a 2010 Château Haut-Bailly and Penfolds 2010 Bin 169, which retail at more than $360.

Alongside these are Langton’s classified wines from Coonawarra, Margaret River, Yarra Valley and Eden Valley.

Attendees of the event were set to be entitled to discounted entry to the Coonawarra Cellar Door in the City Event, scheduled to take place following the masterclass at the National Wine
Centre.

However, the Cellar Door in the City Event has regrettably been postponed, due to current seated consumption restrictions in South Australia.
