The annual awards ceremony of the Millicent Business Community Association is set to return this year. A tentative date of August 21 has been set.
The last such function was held in mid-2019 at the Millicent War Memorial Civic and Arts Centre and it was not held last year on account of the COVID protocols. The association re-introduced an annual awards ceremony a decade ago and it has also been hosted at such venues as the Somerset Hotel and Sandpipers Motel.
The ceremony has evolved over the years into a major occasion on the Millicent social calendar, with up to 300 in attendance. In past years, awards were offered in the categories of Outstanding Business for Agricultural/Horticultural/ Viticulture; Manufacturing/ Construction/Trades; Service; Retail; Hospitality and Business; Employee of the Year and Young Employee of the Year.
An independent judging panel determined the winners.
