Millicent gives Blue Lake a scare on home turf

Blue Lake v Millicent

Millicent United travelled to Malseed Park on Saturday to take on Blue Lake.

Both sides battled hard in the first half with the opening goal eluding both sides, however that changed halfway through when the Rangers were awarded a penalty.

Pip Crewe stepped up and slotted it to give Blue Lake the lead.

The game became a stalemate, with neither side able to equalise or add to their lead as Blue Lake headed into the break with a one goal lead.

In the second half both sides struggled to find the back of the net as Millicent worked hard to tie the game up and come away with some points.

However they just could not get the job done as they fell short in the end.

Blue Lake defeated Millicent United 1-0.

Gambier Centrals v Apollo

Apollo’s winning streak continued on Saturday as they picked up their ninth win of the season.

Centrals started well and put Apollo on the back foot as Isla Dickson scored the opening goal.

Apollo worked hard to get back into the game as Rebekah Lamb scored the equaliser for Apollo late in the first half, with scores tied at one a piece at the break.

Centrals looked to hold their position in the game and take points off Apollo, doing well to slow them down early on in the second half.

In the back end of the half Apollo finally broke through Centrals’ defence as Lamb scored another goal to give them the lead.

The floodgates then opened as Deni Atkins scored back to back goals late in the half to give Apollo a three goal lead.

Demi Ingley joined the scoring party, finishing the day on a high for Apollo with another goal to close out the victory.

Apollo defeated Gambier Centrals 5-1.

Inter v Naracoorte United.
Inter took on the travelling Naracoorte United on Sunday with Inter picking up their first win of the season.

Inter started strong and set the tone for the day with an early goal from Marie Onema to give the home side a one goal lead.

Inter’s lead did not last long as Ashleigh Neil responded soon after with the equalising goal for Naracoorte.

Inter was determined not to share the points with Naracoorte again, with Ashara Mcnamara scoring for Inter to give them a one goal lead heading into halftime.

Isabella Morello stepped up for Inter in the second half, helping her side drive home the victory.

Morello scored back to back goals early on in the half which gave Inter a three goal lead.

Try as they might, Naracoorte could not come up with an answer as they fell short again and are now the only team without a win this season.

Inter defeated Naracoorte United 4-1.
