Millicent citizens will pause briefly on November 11 to honour wartime service and sacrifice on Remembrance Day.
It will be 106 years since the end of World War I.
A service will commence at the Cross of Sacrifice at 10.30am and a minute’s silence will be observed exactly at 11am.
The service will be conducted by Millicent RSL president Chris Mathias and sub-branch chaplain Pastor Paul Hales.
Mr Mathias said there will be the usual arrangements in contrast to a year ago when there were special guests and a luncheon to mark the 100th anniversary of the dedication of the Cross of Sacrifice.
He said this will be the first time since the 1940s that Millicent does not have a returned serviceman in its midst.
This is due to the recent death of naval veteran Fred Ellis at the age of 97.
As part of the annual Remembrance Day observation, the Millicent RSL will erect a field of cross poppies at the Millicent Cross of Sacrifice to honour those local service personnel who have died in battle or since.
RSL members will be selling badges and poppies outside local shops in the coming weeks for the Poppy Appeal which supports veteran families in need.
