Atop industry award has recently been won by Millicent veterinarian Dr Sarah McGrath.
She is the 2025 Australian Veterinary Association Veterinary Business Group Thought Leader.
Her citation states why she is worthy of this recognition.
“Dr McGrath has challenged the status quo, stimulated industry discussion and become a force for change in response to challenges,” the citation stated.
Dr McGrath moved to the region 11 years ago when she and her veterinarian husband Dr Sean McGrath purchased the practice of his parents.
The McGraths have since expanded to Kingston and Meningie, recruited additional professional and support staff and purchased and upgraded premises for their Millicent clinic.
Dr McGrath is active in a number of community organisations including the Millicent Business Community Association, Kangaroo Inn area School and the Hatherleigh Football Netball Club.
Writing on social media, Dr McGrath said she felt very humbled and incredibly privileged to receive the award from the AVA.
“I have so much wonderful support from the people around me it makes it easy to love what I do and want to support my wider profession that has given me so much,” Dr McGrath said.
“I am eternally grateful to my peers and mentors, so I see it as my responsibility to be a good peer and mentor for future generations to come.”
Meanwhile, an anonymous staff member has also expressed her views online about the AVA Award.
“Our clinics are the product of what we are taught, and our culture comes from the people who lead us,” stated the staff member.
“Dr Sarah and Dr Sean have taught us to be brave, to be confident, to be humble and to be ourselves.
“No matter what we are listened to, we are encouraged to do what makes us successful and at the heart of every conversation, every achievement and every heartache is Dr Sarah.
“We are so lucky to have bosses who care for us, treat us all like family, and make us want to be our best inside and out.”
