MJ Dance stole the show at the recent Follow Your Dreams national dancing competition in Adelaide. Despite lockdowns and border restrictions every state took part in the second biggest nationals ever for the competition.
Mount Gambier’s MJ Dance enjoyed amazing representation at the highest level with a dancer in every championship division the studio entered. MJ’s depth of talent was on display during the wonderful championship sections where some of the nation’s top dancers were present.
Major awards went to 5 years winner Violet Davis and 7 and under podium placer Ella Dyson. Morgan Troebinger, Ruby Dyson, Ava McCullough and Annabelle Gordon all featured in the 9 and Under top 10.
Bailee Lewis also achieved the feat in 11 and Under, as did Kiera McBain and Harriet Clark in 13 and Under. However, Madi Lane took home the runner-up prize in Under 13 and Mia Bellinger also finished second in Under 15. Asha Rodda impressed in the Open category to take home second place, while Molly Clark was seen in the top five.
The studio enjoyed even more success in duos with five victorious dancers. Madi Lane and Kiera McBain teamed up to win juniors. Anton Gabutina, Espoir Alpha and Joshua Shephard proved an unstoppable force and they won the Seniors division. Rodda, Molly Clark and Olivia Hawthorne also impressed to score a podium finish.
The Under 9 small group lyrical scored third in Troupes to cap off a memorable campaign. It was a wonderful week of dancing and the studio is grateful to perform at this level of competition.
Classes are well under way at the studio for 2021. There are still vacancies in some of the classes so interested people can check out the studio’s website mjdance.online or its facebook page.
