The Mount Burr sporting community is set for a $220,000 funding injection if the Liberal Party is elected at the upcoming Federal Election.
Member for Barker Tony Pasin said an elected Liberal Government will commit $220,000 to resurfacing the courts and upgrading the lighting at the Mount Burr Netball Club.
The news has been welcomed by the sporting organisation, as Mount Burr Netball Club president Stacey Lowndes said the funding would provide a huge boost to the club’s offering.
“We are so thrilled that the Mount Burr Netball club has been considered for this funding,” she said.
“This funding will improve the functionality, safety and overall experience for players, families, and community members at the Mount Burr Netball Club.
“By resurfacing the courts and upgrading the lighting we can create a stronger and more engaged community that is well-equipped for the future.”
Mr Pasin said the Mount Burr Netball Club has been a hub for fostering a passion for netball in the South East for generations.
“Mount Burr Netball Club is a grassroots club with a great culture. I’m pleased to support them with a pledge of funding to assist in improving the functionality and safety of the club’s infrastructure,” he said.
Mr Pasin said the funding commitment will deliver long-term benefits to the community by boosting participation in grassroots sport.
“Importantly for the Mid South East, the funding will benefit the sporting champions of the future and reduce barriers to participation for women and girls by improving local sporting infrastructure,” he said.
