The Mount Gambier Golf Club held one of its novelty events on Saturday with a Men’s Pairs Aggregate Stableford competition.
Usually, competition golf is a singular affair, with individual golfers playing the rest of the field.
This event had two players combine their scores to see which team can post the highest points tally.
The clubrooms were full of stories of players who were disappointed in their playing companions as they did not hold up their side.
Two teams had one of their players dominate the day with 38 points but were ultimately held back from winning by their respective playing partners.
However, the poor conditions certainly did not help a lot of the players, as winter finally showed its hand with plenty of rain and wind encountered.
Jason Mann (9) and Sam Letizia (11) took out top spot with 69 points.
Unlucky runners up on a countback were Brady Dethmore (22) and Riley Parsons (11) also posting 69 points.
Third spot, decided again on a countback, went to Adrian Ballintyne (9) and Shayne Hosking (13) with 67 points.
Graham Greenwood (12) and David Turnbull (31), Grant Harvey (11) and Craig Torney (16) and Paul Reade (9) and Robbie Young (15) also all finished on 67 points.
Twenty-one teams won balls for a score of 65 or better on a countback, with Hayden Massey (1) taking out the Pro shot on the eighth and Brady Dethmore (22) on the 16th.
