Recently students from Grant High School and Mount Gambier High School participated in the South Australia Power Cup (SAPC) event, enjoying a series of enriching activities and developing connections with Aboriginal students from across the state.
The event commenced with a leadership day at Morphettville Racecourse.
Year 10 students engaged in a program developed by Power Community Ltd, focusing on respectful relationships.
As the not-for-profit charity arm of the Port Adelaide Football Club, Power Community Limited offers education programs that use the power of elite Australian Rules Football to promote meaningful social change.
The second part of the day featured a series of panel discussions on various career paths.
Although the day was packed with information, the students remained engaged and took away valuable insights for their futures.
The subsequent two days were filled with football excitement.
The boys teamed up with Central Yorke, securing a win, while the girls partnered with Ocean View and also came out victorious.
The team spirit was electric, and it was fantastic to see all students actively participating.
The final day was marked by an award ceremony celebrating the students’ hard work leading up to the Power Cup.
Following the ceremony, the students had the chance to watch the AFL match between Port and Carlton, witnessing Port lose in a closely contested match.
Organisers said this year’s SAPC event was a tremendous success, offering students valuable experiences in leadership, sports, and career exploration.
The dedication and enthusiasm of the students was inspiring, emphasising the importance of community, respect, and cultural connection.
