Muhovics stars

Veteran Mount Burr all-rounder Nathan Muhovics (pictured) starred with bat and ball when his team achieved a rare home ground victory against Kingston on Saturday in round 8 of the Millicent Naracoorte Cricket Association.
It was the second win for the season for the bottom-placed team.
Muhovics played his part with a couple of wickets to restrict the seasiders to just 113 and then top scored with an unbeaten 45 in the successful run chase.
His younger brother and home team skipper Jordan Muhovics had won the toss and elected to bowl.
The decision appeared to be vindicated when both openers were back in the Can Hill Pavilion with a solitary run on the scoreboard.
However, Kingston’s middle order staged a fightback and reached 3/81.
Handy contributions came from Bradley Sibley (33), Bradley Maloney (31 not out) and Ethan Murdock (18) and a score beyond 150 looked possible.
It was not to be as the pendulum swung back Mount Burr’s way with all five bowlers taking at least one wicket.
The pick was Mark Wright with two catches and 3/19.
There were four ducks in Kingston’s innings.
The visitors needed early wickets but the Mount Burr openers had a stand of 19 for the first wicket.
A further 95 runs was needed at this stage and Muhovics was happy to play the sheet anchor role.
He faced 69 balls and hit two boundaries.
As well as Muhovics, other notable contributors were vice-captain Jack Francis with 15 and a total of 28 sundries.
Mount Burr reached the target with 10 overs to spare and seven wickets in hand.
This early finish allowed the Mount Burr cricketers to join their footballing clubmates in the annual Christmas party.

Millicent Black Hats 10/121 defeated Naracoorte Warriors 10/100
The Millicent Black Hats can thank returning player Cooper Hamilton and star teenage bowler Ashton Lindner for a hard-fought victory at home over the Naracoorte Warriors.
It has been quite a while since Hamilton was a regular with the reigning premiers but he has not lost his touch.
He opened the innings and had scored 73 out of 121 when his was the last wicket to fall.
Hamilton faced 87 balls and belted seven fours and one six.
The only other batsman to reach double figures was Kobe Gibson with 15 and there were three ducks.
Loren Bald took five catches behind the stumps while Andrew Fitzgerald continued his good form with three wickets.
In reply, Lindner dismissed five of the top six and took two catches as well.
Despite his dominance, the Warriors stood a chance at 6/93.
That hope was quashed as Jaxon Cushion cleaned up the tail and the visitors only reached an even 100.
Bald completed a good day with a top score of 28.

Lucindale 8/159 defeated Naracoorte Townies 10/158
Lucindale scraped home to victory at Wortley Oval over the Naracoorte Townies with three balls to spare and just two wickets in hand.
The Townies had been dismissed for the competitive tally of 158 in the 36th over.
The run chase began in the worst possible way for the visitors as Millicent Naracoorte Cricket Association president Michael McGurk was dismissed for a golden duck.
His stumps were disturbed by a Brodie Foster thunderbolt.
Thereafter it was an even contest of bat and ball.
