A Grade – Glencoe 61 def Kalangadoo 53
The A Grade second semi final did not disappoint with Glencoe taking on Kalangadoo in a tight tussle. Both teams came our strongly scoring their own centre passes. Kalangadoo gained the first break and capitalised accordingly. Glencoe broke back and scores were level. Glencoe applied strong defensive pressure in the ring, forcing rare misses for the Kalangadoo goalies. Chantelle Cocks started to get into the game with accurate shooting. Lara Munro worked hard to get intercepts, but the experience of Cocks and Jenna Paproth was too strong giving Glencoe a four goal lead, 16-12.
Both teams started out strongly in the second quarter with their respective attack lines giving 100%. The game went goal for goal, with accurate shooting from both teams. Glencoe picked up the pressure in the defensive circle causing the Kalangadoo goalers to miss and Sarah Edwards jumped on the rebounds and drove hard out of defence for Glencoe. The defence for both teams were working overtime with their goalers rewarding them with high accuracy finishing. Cocks was the focal point for Glencoe with some beautiful movement and finishing off.
Down the other end Abbey Duncan and Ebony McDiarmid were starting to combine well with on-point shooting. The Pies pegged back a goal with a free pass and started to gain some momentum in defence with Georgia Duncan and Munro getting some touches, a great intercept from Munro saw Kalangadoo capitalise. Glencoe then responded with tight defence from S. Edwards and Kaitlyn Hentschke forcing the usually reliable Kalangadoo feeders into errors. The Murphies pushed out their lead to five at half time.
The third once again started goal for goal. Strong defensive pressure started to force both sides to miss a few goals. Glencoe had some strong consistent play and it was hard to stop their momentum.
Edwards strongly rebounded any missed shots from the Pies. Kalangadoo pulled out the stops to try and stop Glencoe with Georgia Gentile and Jane Auld applying some great centre court pressure. Kalangadoo got plenty of the ball with some great driving onto the circle from Jayde Peacock, despite the tight pressure from Alice Tentye. Peacock continued to feed well but the Pies goalers started to struggle with their conversion.
The Murphies drove well through the mid court through Donna Jaeschke and Ashlea Pfitzner with Paproth and Cocks finishing off well. Abbey Duncan was having to work overtime for Kalangadoo moving around the ring well, while Peacock fed with pinpoint accuracy and Duncan shot accurately. Glencoe jumped on every opportunity and scored from it.
The pressure from Edwards and Hentschke saw the usually accurate McDiarmid start to miss some shots. Glencoe was the stronger this quarter pulling away to a 14 goal lead and moving closer to earning their way through to the grand final.
Kalangadoo made a few changes at the break switching Munro to WD and Gentile into GD. Kalangadoo had the first centre pass, but Glencoe once again rebounded strongly, driving the ball well down court through Jaeschke and Pfitzner, both feeding their goalers accurately.
Cocks and Paproth continued to dominate, shooting with high accuracy. Peacock and Abbey Duncan continued to work hard in attack for the Pies. Munro at WD took a couple of courageous intercepts for her team for which she was rewarded by her goalies. Gentile also seemed to curb some of Paproth’s influence and this helped Kalangadoo pin back a few goals.
The Pies defence continued to work hard but Paproth’s experience was working in the Murphies’ favour. Kalangadoo started to transition more smoothly down the court with some great passing and feeding to their goalies.
Jaeschke and Auld were having a great tussle through the middle and both played consistently for their respective teams.
Glencoe’s Pfitzner stepped up this quarter driving hard onto the ring and feeding well despite the pressure applied by Munro. Gentile and Georgia Duncan made it harder in this quarter for Glencoe’s goalers, which resulted in them having a few misses, but Kalangadoo’s passing let them down.
Peacock continued to work hard in the goal third providing lots of drive. McDiarmid started to come back into the game, positioning strongly and finished off well. Kalangadoo jumped on any small opportunities and they slowly started to bring the margin closer. However, Glencoe was just too strong and finished the game eight goals in front.
Best players for Glencoe were Chantelle Cocks and Ashlea Pfitzner, and for Kalangadoo Ebony McDiarmid and Jayde Peacock.
A Reserve – Kalangadoo 54 def Hatherleigh 33
Kalangadoo and Hatherleigh battled it out in a tough A Reserve first quarter, with Kalangadoo taking control early. The first quarter ended 14-9 in Kalangadoo’s favour, as the Russell duo of Melissa and Shayden made Hatherleigh’s defenders Maddie Redman and Millie Smith work hard for every touch. In the mid court, Sophie Wrightson and Deni Brown were evenly matched, showing great speed and fitness.
In the second quarter, Kalangadoo extended their lead to 30-15, pulling away with the Russells shooting with extreme accuracy. Rosie Nettle and Reanna Weatherall also had a strong contest in the mid court, with Nettle’s speed testing Weatherall’s height advantage, adding another layer of intensity to the game. Hatherleigh’s goal circle had to work hard to find clear shooting positions, as Kalangadoo’s defence kept the pressure on.
Hatherleigh made adjustments in the third quarter, bringing Lucy Corman back into defence alongside Redman. Corman managed a few intercepts, but Melissa Russell’s strong two-handed rebounds kept Kalangadoo ahead, finishing the quarter 45-24.
In the final quarter, Hatherleigh brought Imogen Nowak and Eliza Mewett into the circle to change things up, but Kalangadoo maintained possession and control, closing the game out with a 54-33 victory. Despite Hatherleigh’s effort, Kalangadoo proved to be the stronger side on the day.

B Grade – Kalangadoo 48 def Hatherleigh 46
It was a tight start to the game that continued throughout, showing why these two teams finished top of the ladder. The first quarter saw both Kalangadoo and Hatherleigh go goal for goal with a tight tussle all over the court. Strong defensive pressure from Hatherleigh’s Marnie Jolley and Maddie Nunan caused crucial turnovers. This was matched down the other end by Kalangadoo’s defensive line of Emily Mulraney and Emma Mules. Olivia Slattery stood strong in GS, rebounding shots as needed, and Eliza Burton was a force to be reckoned with, shooting the long bomb extremely accurately.
There was a great match up in the middle between Ali McLelland and Jamie Ryan who both provided great drive and fed the attack line with precision and patience. Kalangadoo were able to take a two goal lead heading into half time.
Both teams came out firing in the second half. Kalangadoo were at times able to push out the margin to four, but Hatherleigh’s fight and tenacity always saw them peg it back to one or two goals, however they were not able to gain the upper hand. Gina Gogel took the ball strongly in attack on a skilled defence. Kalangadoo maintained the two goal lead at the final whistle, sending them straight through to the grand final.

B Reserve – Port MacDonnell 61 def Hatherleigh 29
Port Mac came out strongly, scoring the first four goals of the game. Strong defensive pressure by Bridie McPherson and Fiona Scott limited Hatherleigh’s scoring opportunities. Paige Cawthorne and Keely Jones had a good tussle in the mid court, with great leads and strong passes. At quarter time the scores were 16-8, with Port Mac finding their feet and taking the lead. The game was fast paced throughout the mid court, with each team having opportunities to intercept and fight for the ball.
Port Mac’s shooters Ainsley Mann and Amber Moulden dominated the goal circle and shot with confidence, while maintaining composure under Hatherleigh’s tight defence. Hatherleigh called a tactical and swapped Ellen Clarke from attack to defence, showing off her versatility at both ends of the court. The Bay had stretched their lead out at half time 29-13.
The final half showed why both teams deserved to be in finals, Hatherleigh rotated their line up bringing Amy Haines on at WA and Maddie Copping at WD. Port Mac continued to dominate the play, despite the effort of the Eagles’ mid court. Unfortunately for Hatherleigh, Port Mac were the better side taking away a good, strong lead at the final whistle, advancing through to the grand final.

17 & Under – Kalangadoo 45 def by Mount Burr 56
In a game that could have gone either way, Mount Burr got the upper hand early with the defensive pressure into the Kalangadoo goal circle. Mount Burr’s Macy Burns and Tilly Gamble worked well to stop the drive of Kalangadoo’s GA Shayden Russell. Abbey Falting at C and Olivia Holland at WA for Mount Burr drove strongly to circle edge, feeding the strong Mount Burr goalies. Kalangadoo’s Ellie Xanthapoulos and Maya Anderson worked hard in the defensive circle, however the Burr’s feeders played with patience when feeding. Sarah Sigston at GA for Mount Burr was the focal point in the circle for the first quarter with Ashlee Dean building into the game in the last three, sharing the shooting load.
Mount Burr continued to make the most of turnovers to have a 15 goal lead by half time. Limited changes were made during the game by both teams with neither being impacted by the changes. In the third quarter, Russell worked herself into the game being a focal point in the circle, helped by the patience of Lucy Egan and Lilly Brook around the circle edge. Kalangadoo made the most of turnovers by their defence to win the quarter by four, reducing the deficit to 11. The last quarter was an even quarter with both teams making errors due to the defensive pressure in the centre court. Mount Burr held their composure when Kalangadoo scored a few goals in a row to peg back the lead. Falting showed leadership through the centre, helping her mid court regain patience and work the ball into the attack line. Mount Burr used their impressive start to come away with an 11 goal win.
Best players for Kalangadoo were Shayden Russell and Lilly Brook, and for Mount Burr Sarah Sigston and Abbey Falting.
15 & Under – Port Mac 47 def by Kalangadoo 55
In a wet start, both teams came out strong and the game started at a furious pace. Bailee Lewis was a focal point at GA for the Bay, shooting 12 of her team’s 14 goals, giving her side a narrow one goal lead at the first break. Kalangadoo came back strongly in the second, with scores level at half time. Accurate shooting from both sides was a highlight.
Port Mac defenders Layla McPherson and Chelsea Fulham worked hard in the circle, trying to limit opportunities to the Pies’ goalies Kiersten Cole and Lucy Egan. Molly Peacock at GD for the Pies read the play well and took some timely intercepts to keep her team in the game. The third quarter saw Kalangadoo surge ahead with Cole and Egan sharing the scoring. Port Mac had limited opportunities and struggled with their transition, giving Kalangadoo an 11 goal lead going in to the last quarter. Port Mac continued to fight back in the last, but there was not enough time and Kalangadoo ended up taking the match by eight goals.
Best players for Kalangadoo were Molly Peacock and Lucy Egan, and for Port MacDonnell Bailee Lewis and Layla McPherson.
13 & Under – Hatherleigh 60 def Kalangadoo 44
The game started off at high intensity, with both teams coming out strong and going goal for goal. Hatherleigh’s Mollie O’Connor and Livvi Faulkner led with patience and accuracy under the high pressure of Te Kani Clark and Jorja McLaughlin, resulting in a slight lead of two to Hatherleigh at quarter time. In the next quarter it was anyone’s game, with Kalangadoo’s Zara Cole and Matilda Peacock working tirelessly in attack to get it to Ebony Reeves, a strong target in the goal circle. Leyla Marshall and Kaia Green persisted in their pursuit of circle defence, and at half time Hatherleigh had extended their lead by one. The third saw a change in positions, with both teams seeking to widen the margin by three quarter time.
Ashley Grosvenor worked for Kalangadoo to make strong leads in attack but was placed under pressure by Paige Walters. Milla Lennon entered the court with a statement, providing tight checking defence, but again, with Hatherleigh’s accuracy and patience led well by vice captain Alirah Bowman, they found a break and were up by 12 by three quarter time. By the final quarter, Hatherleigh had hit their stride and made it difficult for the Magpies to shorten the margin, placing them under pressure in every area of the court. This pressure proved too much for the Pies and Hatherleigh came away with a 60-44 win.
Best players for Hatherleigh were Livvi Faulkner and Leyla Marshall, and for Kalangadoo Ebony Reeves and Harper Griffiths.
