Muscle woman up for White-hot national challenge

Mount Gambier muscle woman Tammy White (pictured) is charging towards the finals of a hit television show.

Mrs White, a well known local bodybuilder, reached the semi finals of Ultimate Tag – a game show based on the game of tag, with elements of parkour thrown in.

The 38-year-old mother of two has made it through the first and second heats and will be competing in the upcoming semi-finals.

“It was amazing, it was something that I did not expect to happen, my aunty sent through the application form and I thought I’d have a crack,” she said.

“I got called up for an audition in Adelaide and a month later the producers rang and said they were booking my flights to Sydney.”

Mrs White is no stranger to auditions, having tried out for Australian Ninja Warrior and various movie stunt roles.

“I had a couple of interviews and then had to run through a few challenging fitness tests,” she said.

“I walked away not knowing whether I’d got through.

“When I got the email saying I’d got in I had no words, I just thought ‘oh my god this is happening’.”

From there Mrs White threw herself into training in preparation for filming, which took place at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena late last year.

READY TO GO: Mount Gambier woman Tammy White progresses through the early rounds to secure a spot in the Ultimate Tag semi-finals.

“The people you go up against are pro taggers, most of the males are professional parkour athletes and the females are professional gymnasts, pole vaulters, body builders and rugby players,” she said.

“I’m quite far from being fit in terms of running as I’m a bodybuilder, I’m strong but not a runner.

“I kept up my own routine of bodybuilding, high intensity interval training and tried to make sure I did it daily, with a little bit of running, box jumping, skipping and burpees.

“I honestly I did not think I would get through the first round and I went there with the intention of returning shortly after I competed.”

Mrs White, who is also a personal trainer and group fitness instructor, said she absolutely enjoyed tackling the specialist obstacle courses, which were extremely challenging.

“It was really exciting but super scary, I’m really proud and really surprised at myself,” she said.

Ultimate Tag airs Sunday 7pm and Monday 7.30pm on 7flix. If you have missed Mrs White’s heats the episodes are available to stream on 7plus.
