Kalangadoo’s Ebony McDiarmid won the Mid SE Netball A Grade Best and Fairest Trophy and the runner/up was Glencoe’s Sarah Edwards.
Following her win, McDiarmid said she was very honoured, but it was extremely unexpected.
“The close voting between the top five to 10 players shows just how strong of a competition we have and I was just lucky enough to be at the top at the end of the count,” she said.
“It takes a whole team of players to make this possible and I have such a strong group supporting me and doing the work up the court, along with all our support on the sidelines.”
Other trophy winners were Kalangadoo’s Lara Munro (best under 21), Kalangadoo’s Melissa Russell (A Reserve), Kalangadoo’s Jamie Ryan (B Grade) and Kongorong’s Amy Brant (B Reserve).
For the first time, former Hatherleigh footballer Trevor Rayson was the master of ceremonies at the annual Mail Medal count of the MSEFL and MSENA.
The gala function was held at the Millicent War Memorial Civic and Arts Centre.
The host club was the Tantanoola Football Netball Club and Tigers president Matt Cytrowski and his 30 helpers welcomed the 300 in attendance.
Among them was Member for MacKillop Nick McBride who sat with his fellow MSEFL umpires’ panel members.
Earlier in the day, the trophy winners in junior netball/football Mid SE grades were presented at this venue.
The attention of the Mid SE players and supporters now turns to the cut-throat preliminary final at Kalangadoo on Saturday.
