The Mid South East Netball Association is reaching the mid point of this season, with the outcome of this week’s fixtures unlikely to have much bearing on the ladder.
The match of the round this weekend will involve a trip to the seaside for Tantanoola, who will take on Port MacDonnell.
Ladder leaders Glencoe will host Mount Burr, while reigning premiers Kalangadoo will be at home to Kongorong and the clash of the cellar dwellers will feature Hatherleigh and Nangwarry.
Glencoe v Mount Burr
The Mozzies will travel to Glencoe on Saturday, in what looks like a tough contest for Mount Burr.
Glencoe continued their unbeaten start to the season last round, comprehensively defeating Nangwarry, to remain undefeated at the top of the ladder.
Mount Burr is coming off the bye, and will need every ounce of their fresh legs to keep up with the fast paced Murphies.
The Mozzies currently sit fifth on the ladder, having split their results thus far.
Kalangadoo v Kongorong
This week’s battle of the birds looks set to be a lopsided event, with Kalangadoo hosting Kongorong.
The Magpies are coming off a sound 40 point victory against Tantanoola last week, while the Hawks went down to Robe by 18.
Kalangadoo retains second spot on the ladder, having only lost the one game this season, with Kongorong in seventh having registered only one win so far, along with a draw.
There’s no doubt the Hawks are rebuilding, having taken it up to several other sides, but in reality they will not stand a chance up against the high flying Pies.
Hatherleigh v Nangwarry
The match between the Eagles and the Saints looms as a battle of the cellar dwellers.
Both sides are coming off losses last week, and while Nangwarry was soundly beaten by ladder leaders Glencoe, Hatherleigh took it right up to Port MacDonnell, only going down by four.
Hatherleigh currently sits eighth on the ladder, having only registered one win, with Nangwarry occupying bottom spot yet to win a game.
The Saints have improved markedly on last season, and are showing positive signs with a young group. This may well be the week they get their first win.
Port MacDonnell v Tantanoola
The Bay will come into Saturday’s match against Tantanoola with confidence they can defeat the Tigers.
Tant received a netball lesson from Kalangadoo last week, going down by 40 goals, while the Demons defeated Hatherleigh by four.
Port MacDonnell is in fourth place of the ladder, having won four and lost three, while Tant is in sixth, with just the two wins, three losses and a draw.
Robe has the bye
