The new brewery at Beachport began trading over the Easter weekend and attracted steady patronage.
Patrons were served at number five Beach Road near the foot of the jetty.
It was the site of the first depot in 1945 of the newly-formed South Australian Fishermen’s Cooperative Limited (SAFCOL).
The current building on the site was erected as a lobster receival depot in 1982.
The liquor licence application for the brewery and on-site consumption was submitted in 2021 by Beachport Enterprises Pty Ltd.
It is a family-owned business which also has local farming, hospitality and various commercial interests.
Furthermore, permission was granted by Planning SA last year to use the building as a smallgoods meat wholesale warehouse and brewery and distillery with a tasting licence.
