New council office on sneak peek

Only a small number of locals are working on the new $10m office in Millicent for Wattle Range Council.

Millicent resident and Deputy Mayor Councillor Peter Dunnicliff sought the number at a recent council meeting.

In reply, engineering services director Peter Halton said the council had signed a contract with an Adelaide builder and they had the discretion to employ whomever they wanted.

Mr Halton said the builder has engaged a Millicent resident as its on-site safety officer.

Mayor Des Noll said he had seen vehicles from Millicent firms Teagle Excavations and Sharps Cranes at the construction site.

The mayor said he had been given a guided tour of the inside of the office and was impressed with what he saw.

The staff report stated the office is advancing as planned, with progress in both construction and interior design.

The North Terrace project remains on schedule for completion mid-year.
