New housing blocks get green light

The Limestone Coast Southern Regional Assessment Panel has recently approved two subdivisions in Robe totalling 64 new blocks for houses.

Leading developer Ron Sargeant has been given the green light for 42 allotments along an extension of Alexander Drive in Long Beach.

Mr Sargeant’s commercial interests in this region include developments in the centre of Robe along with large lifestyle blocks bordering Lake George at Beachport.

Meanwhile, the Robe Golf Club will be allowed to extend Kokoda Drive near the town centre to create 22 new house blocks.

The club has partly funded its course re-design by selling off surplus land for housing such as the so-called Lost Fairways in 2015.

The auction over the June Holiday long weekend drew a crowd of around 100 people and strong bidding from builders, retirees and investors.

It led to the majority of the blocks selling on the day for prices ranging from $160,000 – $180,000.

The remaining blocks were sold within a few months and houses have since been built on the “Lost Fairways”.
