Anew ‘wine and spirits’ learning hub was launched in the Adelaide this week, as South Australia’s hospitality sector seeks to bounce back and attract more skilled workers following the effects of COVID-19.
TAFE SA’s Wine & Spirits School’s new education hub brings a range of professional qualifications and specialist short courses under one roof at its City Campus.
TAFE SA will be able to deliver on-campus and into regional SA using a virtual classroom and will work closely with industry to ensure training delivered continues to be relevant to their needs.
The move will provide greater access to TAFE SA’s wine education program for city-based hospitality workers, interstate and international visitors and others looking to expand their knowledge of wine and spirits at a professional level.
The new hub provides state-of-the-art facilities and flexible learning spaces.
TAFE SA has a proud 30-year history in wine education and, since 2011, has been delivering Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) courses which are sought-after qualifications recognised around the world.
Courses include WSET Awards (level 1-3) in wine, spirits and sake, Barossa Wine School (level 1 & 2), Champagne and Sparkling Tasting Lab, and French, Italian and Spanish Wine Scholar programs.
In 2020, TAFE SA introduced the prestigious WSET Level 4 Diploma, a high-level qualification which had previously only been available in Sydney and Melbourne.
The Diploma includes a comprehensive study of the world’s wine regions and the development of wine-tasting skills to an expert level and is taught by a range of industry specialists including Master of Wine, Phil Reedman, and the Australian Wine Research Institute’s senior oenologist, Geoff Cowley.
